The East Lothian ladies take part in the Quarter Final of the Scottish Cup this coming Saturday when they travel to Falkirk to face East Fife. Next in action were our Gents Four of Jamie Higgins, Joe Mower, Scott Kennedy and Derek Oliver who were due to play the semi-final of the British Isles Fours on Tuesday against either Wales or England with the winners playing in the final on Wednesday while at the moment the Gents International Series is taking place in which Alex Marshall MBE, Scott Kennedy, Billy Mellors (Captain) and Derek Oliver are taking part whilst Mark Johnston is the Scotland Team Manager. Scotland were due to face Wales on Thursday, Ireland on Friday and England on Saturday.
There have been four games recently in the Jock Brodie Seniors Challenge Trophy, sponsored by N T Craig, Tom Young Plumbing & Electrical Services and Colin Glen Roofing. On the 27th February West Lothian defeated Berwickshire 6-2 to put themselves in a strong position to qualify for the latter stages. On the same day Tweedbank defeated Teviotdale 7-1 in a Borders derby. Tweedbank have 14 points from 3 games and will require to beat Perth in their final game to reach the latter stages. On Wednesday 6th March Perth defeated East Lothian 8-0 while Headwell defeated neighbours Abbeyview 5-3. Headwell now have 13 points and will require to beat Bainfield in their last game to qualify for the latter stages.
The Central District Senior Top Six has reached the semi-finals stage which East Lothian have reached and for which they travel to Perth on Saturday. The draw for the semi-finals was due to take place on Wednesday at the Alex Marshall Arena when the Garden County Auld Yins will find out their opponents. The team selected for East Lothian is as follows:

This Sunday our youth pair of Melissa Penman and Lewis Betts and the triple of Kieran Dodds, Aaron Betts and Danny Stevenson travel to Ardrossan aiming to bring two Scottish Titles back to the club as they take part in the national finals. The East of Scotland Top Six takes place this Saturday which sees the young guns left short of their top names who are either at an international practice game of playing for the ladies team in the Scottish Cup. However, with the bank of talent the Garden County has there are six more than capable players waiting to represent the young team who are Cameron Pryde, Luke Cowan, Callum Henderson, Lennon Rafferty, Daryl Grieve and Ethan Gillies. Due to this tournament there will be no coaching sessions this Saturday morning.
The Gents and Ladies Singles are now at the semi-final stage which is due to be played on the 18th March at 6.30pm and there are four cracking encounters set to take place. In the Gents Singles reigning champion Billy Mellors faces off against bowling legend Willie Wood MBE whilst there’s a clash of the brothers for the second year running as Chris and Ewan Fallen do battle at a later stage than they faced off last year when Chris was the victor. The ladies singles sees young star Melissa Penman play the experienced Yvonne Veitch in an intriguing battle whilst in the other half another young star in the form of Beth Riva is up against internationalist Emma Logan.
