Cockenzie & Port Seton were the main movers last Friday in the East Coast Carpets sponsored East Lothian League Division One when they returned from their trip to Gifford with an 8-0 victory and 50 shots in the bank. This result had team captain Craig Valentine cock-a-hoop with a “tickety-boo” result to leave his team two points off the pace at the half way stage of the season. The pacesetters are now the 2014 champions and pre-season favourites Haddington who returned from Elphinstone with a hard fought 6-2 success while EL Co-op move into third place following a 4-4 draw with Prestongrange. Castlepark moved into a challenging position following an 8-0 home victory over West Barns, which drops their opponents into the relegation spots. Tranent’s trip to East Linton was called-off and has been re-scheduled for Monday 27th.
In Friday’s night action, leaders Haddington face an away trip to Gifford while second place Cockenzie and Port Seton face a tough away clash against Castlepark. Third placed EL-Coop also face a test at East Linton while Tranent travel to a West Barns team now fighting for their Division One status. Elphinstone and Prestongrange face up in a game that even at this stage of the season is a must win for Elphinstone as they will not want to fall further adrift than the six points they currently trail the Prestonpans club by.
