The Weslo Housing sponsored WLBA Seniors Open Championship reaches its climax today (Thur) with Glenmavis BC in Bathgate the venue for the semi finals at 11am and final at 2pm.
Tuesaday’s quarterfinals play was highlighted by the clash of two former champions at Linlithgow with the outcome seeing the demise of 2011 winner Gordon Kain of Buchan Park at the 21-15 hands of 2012 king pin Gordon Scott of Armadale. The other tie played at Linlithgow saw Norrie Alexander of Ratho upset the mainstream formbook odds with a commanding 21-7 victory over former Hamilton Trophy star David Wilson of Broxburn. Action on the Kinneil green in Bo’ness saw Stuart Smith of Ratho storm to a 21-7 win over Jack McLaren of Glenmavis while John Collin carried the Middleton Hall banner forward with a battling 21-17 win over Tom Crookston of West Calder.
Harrysmuir captured the title honours in the final days play at Whitburn of The West Lothian Council Trophy with their club rink crowned Champions ahead of Kirkliston, Middleton Hall, and Armadale.
Lorna Smith has brought more national honours to the 150th Anniversary celebrations of Linlithgow BC having captured the inaugural ladies Pairs title in the Bowls Scotland Super Series played in its final stages at Kelvingrove.
Smith skipped Claire Johnston of Auchinleck to a 21-12 win in the final over fellow internationalists LynnStein and Margaret Letham while the gents equivalent was won by Reece Notman (Stonehouse) and Martin Williamson of Irvine Park.
