The 12-man Scottish side totally dominated proceedings from start to finish and registered a memorable 45-11 victory over their young Irish counterparts. On a personal level Kivlin enjoyed an outstanding series winning 4.5 out of the 5 points available in what was her last outing in the youth ranks. “A massive well done to all 12 players who were selected for this year’s international series as they conducted themselves very well on and off the green. All 12 players showed why they were selected with some great performances over the weekend,” said SYIBA President Peter Fallen.
The sections for next season’s Scottish Indoor Leagues were drawn recently and East Lothian IBC men’s side have been drawn in a tough looking B section of the Premier League which features Falkirk, Ardrossan, Paisley, West Lothian and Elgin. The ladies side will compete in a competitive Premier East section, which includes East Fife, Abbeyview, Bainfield and Midlothian.
Last Wednesday’s final round of qualifying action in the Jock Brodie Senior Challenge Cup, sponsored by Norman T Craig and Co-operative Funeralcare, saw West Lothian inflict 6-2 points misery on Abbeyview to finish at the head of affairs in Section A. However, it wasn’t all doom and gloom for Abbeyview as despite the defeat they still finished in runners-up spot and a place in the semi-finals. In the other game played Tweedbank finished the tournament on a high thanks to a 6-2 win against Headwell. The semi-final draw paired East Lothian and Abbeyview while the other tie featured West Lothian against Midlothian. Both semi-finals were scheduled to be staged on Wednesday with the final taking place this coming Wednesday (April 12) at 11am.
Meanwhile a mixed side from East Lothian IBC booked their place in the final of the Headwell IBC Mixed Team Championship following an impressive showing against East Fife in last Sunday’s semi-final action as they recorded victories on all four rinks to score a 10-0 points win. Dunfermline based club Abbeyview will provide the opposition in the final on a date still to be decided.
On the domestic front at East Lothian IBC the first games of finals week at the Alex Marshall Arena get underway on Friday night with Ladies 2 Bowl Pairs and the Wood & Hay sponsored Top Club finals taking centre stage from 6.30pm. A cracking match is forecasted in the ladies pairs final with Emma Logan and Janet Fairnie tackling Megan Kivlin and Margaret Thomson while its Cockenzie & Port Seton versus Tranent in the climax to the popular Top Club tournament. Finals week will conclude next Friday (April 14) evening with a huge night of action as the finals of the gent’s singles, gents & ladies senior singles, gent’s junior singles, ladies junior singles and youth singles are all down for decision.
