West Lothian IBC’s defeat at home to Ardrossan was a major disappointment and setback to the stars of the Inveralmond Stadium achieving their goal of making it to the playoff final of the gents Premier League.

Neil Speirs finished on the high note of a count of 4 that saw him skip Jim Speirs, Ian Drysdale, and Bryan Cooper to a hard fought 19-13 win. Craig Moss crossed from 2-7 to 13-7 but needed a count of 3 on his final end to skip Nathan McKendrick, Jamie Aitken, and Cameron Greer to a 17-13 win. James Speirs raised the roof with a super count of 6 on his third last end then added a magic 3 to skip Richard Mark, George Sneddon, and Gary Orr into a 25-20 lead entering that tension filled final end.
Balbardie gents remain on zero points after the opening three games in Division 1B with their latest setback coming in the shape of an 85-62 defeat at East Kilbride. John Ellis skipped his rink to a winning performance while Ewan Shearer was piped by a single shot however Kenny Martin and Sandy McDougall both suffered double digit defeat.
The playdown action of the Ladies National Singles at Aberdeen saw Lorraine Craig step in to fill the shoes of the unavailable Balbardie champion Sharon Leitch and open with a good 21-14 win over Carrie McLean of Auchinleck but then make a 21-12 exit to Laura Hall of East Kilbride.
West Lothian champion Jenifer Richardson opened with a 21-15 win over Janice Grant of Allander but then lost 21-9 to Midlothian star Stacey McDougall who wnt on the reach the semis and was joined by Rachel Sinclair of West of Scotland, Lynn Stein of East Fife, and Julie Forrest of Teviotdale.
The opening play in the Seniors National Championhips saw Richard Mark carry the WLIBC forward to the second round of the Singles with a 21-12 over Abbeyview; while wins for Duncan Lawson and David Wilson over Headwell (16-14) and East Lothian (17-14) saw them reach the second round of the Pairs.
West Lothian trio of George Marshall, Alistair Stenhouse and George Sneddon piped Eddie Boyle, Hugh Marshall, and Robert McIvor, 14-13, in the Triples then beat East Fife, 18-7.
The Balbardie challengers suffered a wipe out with Gordon Scott just edged out in a 21-20 battle with his Teviotdale challenger; and David Wall and Ian Drysdale losing 19-14 to Teviotdale.
West Lothian Seniors failed to make home environment count in a 63-54 defeat from Bainfield and have managed to win only one of their opening four matches in the East A League. The rink scores were; Alistair Stenhouse 17 Adam Brock 9; George Sneddon 17 Bill Little 8; John Lynas 13 Graeme McIntosh 19; David Wilson 7 Stuart Wilson 27.
Balbardie Seniors have won 2 from 5 in the East B League the latest result being a 75-52 defeat at home to table toppers Midlothian.
Balbardie Ladies have sadly withdrawn from their Division 1 East commitments while WLIBC have no fixture this weekend.
