Three times national champions Sharon Leitch and Lorraine Craig of Balbardie IBC have created an opportunity to etch their names on the coveted silverware of the Ladies Scottish Pairs Trophy for a fourth time having qualified for the Last Four stage of this seasons Championship.
Read More he star duo from the Park of Peace Stadium in Bathgate played their qualifying games at East Lothian IBC and launch their latest national campaign with a 24-17 first round win over Gemma Forrester and Lynn Lees of Abeyview. Craig then skipped Leitch to a commanding 24-8 win over Betty Gibson and Joyce Dickie of Teviotdale followed on, in the section final, with a hard fought 16-14 victory over the local Garden County partnership of Mags Thomson and Lauren Baillie-White.
The semi final line up at West of Scotland IBC on Saturday March 28 pitches Leitch and Craig against Susan Myles and Maureen Morrison of Perth while Julie Sword and Lynn Stein of East Fife face Claire Anderson and Margaret Letham in the other semi.
Meanwhile the challenge of West Lothian IBC champions Jennifer Sneddon and Wendy Purdie ended in a narrow 16-14 defeat from Teviotdale in the prelim round.
Play in the Gents version, also at the East Lothian venue, saw Tam Whitfield and Mark Bonar of Balbardie make a prelim round exit, losing 21-13 to Joe Conty and Jamie Mitchell of Berwickshire. West Lothian champions Richard Mark and Mark Allison opened with a 23-15 win over Danny McCormack and David Crombie of Stirling then add the 21-16 scalp of Berwickshire in the first round proper.
However their progress was then halted by a 21-12 defeat from Mark McIntosh and Alan Brown of Bainfield who crashed out to a 29-17 defeat from East Lothian stars Scott Kennedy and Billy Mellors.
East Lothian play Colin and Jason Banks of Garioch in the semi finals while Midlothian’s Ronnie Duncan and Colin Walker tackle Greh McLaughlin and Stewart Anderson of Blantyre.
