The finals day was played in a round robin format with the four qualifying clubs all playing each other. The boys faced a tough challenge in their first game up against Alloa East End BC who’s three players are all selected for this years SYBA National squads, but the Tranent youngsters managed to get come through 8-6. They then won against Abbey BC of Angus & Dundee 13-2. The final game was winner takes all against Riddrie BC and even though the boys were lying most ends one bowl from the Riddrie skip most ends was the difference. The boys were 3 down going into the last end and it looked like Danny had played the winning bowl first time of asking lifting the jack to the ditch to lie game but unfortunately the jack took a bounce from a bowl behind to remain one down. Danny then twice narrowly missed the jack and the boys had to settle for runners up loosing 8-4. Club coach Gordon Pryde said “the boys should be proud of their efforts as they played well and on another day would have been National champions”

The Garden County old brigade continued a fine start to this year’s campaign with a hard fought 3 shot win over top if the table opponents. This narrow win with Midlothian coming back over the last few ends saw ELBA top the section table 2 pts ahead of their rivals.
Next week’s game is at Kelso v Borders and the Team will be announced later but all players to meet at EL-Coop at 10am.

In the East Coast Carpets Division 1 its ELCO-OP who still lead the way after an impressive 8-0 victory away to East Linton in a fixture that hasn’t been to kind to the Tranent based side in recent years. In the chasing pack Port Seton who were missing a handful of first team regulars due to being away for team mate Jamie Higgans wedding managed to get a good 5-3 victory away to Elphinstone and now sit 7pts behind the leaders. Haddington had their game re-arranged against West barns and is being played tonight (Thursday) a 8-0 win would see them go level on points at the top of table. At the other end of the table Haddington A had a 6-2 win Dunbar but still see’s them well in the relegation battle. Tranent are back under pressure after a 8-0 defeat away to Castlepark and find themselves in the relegation zone only 1pt in front of Haddington A and 2pts off bottom place West Barns who have the game in hand against Haddington.
On Friday Night, ELCO-OP host fellow title challengers Haddington in what could be an important game in deciding where the coveted Division title ends up this season. The third team in the raise for the title Cockenzie & Port Seton play host to Castlepark. Haddington A are at home to Elphinstone, West Barns are at home to Dunbar and Tranent have another tricky home tie against East Linton.
This Sunday see’s the final stages of the Mckellar Top 5 Trophy which will see Prestongrange or Haddington v ELCO-OP or Port Seton play in semi final 1 at East Linton with a start time of 12:30, Semi final 2 will see Dunbar or Winton v Orminston or Tranent at West Barns at 12:30. The final will be held at East Linton with approximately 14:30 start time.
