The Bowls Scotland District gent’s qualifiers for East Lothian reach their conclusion this coming Sunday from 2pm. The venue for finals night was to be decided later this week following the conclusion of Wednesday night’s semi-final action staged at Haddington BC and Prestongrange BC respectively.
Haddington’s ambition to capture the Division 1 title of the East Coast Carpets sponsored East Lothian Leagues for the third time in four years remains very much on course. Last Friday night’s 6-2 win away to EL-Coop is of particular significance as it represents a strong form-line against a team that sits third in the league and are particularly challenging to beat on their local turf. Cockenzie & Port Seton look like they mean business this season with their team of top stars winning 8-0 at foot of the table Gifford and now sit two points adrift of Haddington. 2015 champions Tranent moved up to fourth as they travelled back down the A1 cock a hoop following an 8-0 win at West Barns. The East Linton camp is also buzzing following a colossal 8-0 win over a struggling Castlepark side that drop to second bottom while Dunbar moved out the relegation zone after their shock 8-0 away win to Aberlady.
On Friday night, Division 1 leaders Haddington enjoy home advantage against Dunbar while Cockenzie & Port Seton is also at home and face Castlepark. EL-Coop should bounce back to winning way when they host lowly Gifford while neighbours Tranent welcome Aberlady to Polson Park. An inform East Linton side make the short trip up the A1 to tackle West Barns.
