Tanfield is the venue for tomorrow’s finals of the Edinburgh Bowling League Knockout Championships sponsored by city company Buyrite Bathrooms, and the headline attraction is the battle between Craigentinny star Josh Spalding and his Carrick Knowe counterpart Richard Tough in the SinglesRead More
Spalding has already stamped his name on the pages of EBL history having reigned as Junior Singles champion in 2011 and 2013 and year 19 of these championships finds him bidding to emulate the triumphs of his club mates Derek McFarlane (2000) and Andy Caldwell (2007). Tough is a new boy on the blocks in terms of the EBL; but second season members Carrick Knowe are making giant like imprints on their latest choice of battle fields and their vastly experienced Singles challenger is considered one of the best spearhead figures in the Capital.
The Craigentinny banner also enjoys high profile representation in the Junior Singles in the shape of well-established figure Danny Gormley and the Junior Cap pits his skills against the talents of emerging Sighthill star Jamie Ronaldson. It’s Sighthill’s first season in the EBL so the former Water of Leith League club is excited to be double-handed with Graeme Eddington and Scott Lyle challenging for The Pairs title against Jamie Gunn and Chris Steven of Brunstane.
The other finalists are, Triples – Whitehouse & Grange v London Road Foundry; Fours – Carrick Knowe v Bainfield; Seniors Fours – Colinton v Parkside.
