Kirkliston advanced their cause with a 3-2 away win over Queensferry while Winchburgh scored a 4-1 win at home to Mid Calder. Bankton Mains (Livingston) is the venue for the final being played on Thursday 25th August, starting at 6pm.
Harrysmuir BC in Livingston will be a hive of extra activity this weekend with 16 qualifying rinks parading their skills this Sunday (11am) to contest the final days play in the West Lothian Council Trophy.
West Lothian’s campaign in the hotly contested Inter County league cup for The Matt Purdie Trophy saw a poor run of results sentence them to a foot of the table position; but the five-rink team did finish with a win over East Lothian at East Calder. George Sneddon exploded from the blocks to skip John Collins, Gordon Kain, and Bob Mackay into a 13-3 lead then they powered to a 23-4 win over Tom Young. Gordon Logan made a whirlwind start to lead 10-0 then skipped Frank Dailly, James C Jamieson, and Stuart Smith to a 20-5 win over J Murray. Ronnie Erskine hit the lids to race into a 13-0 lead en route to skipping Davie Anderson, George Marshall, and Ian McGill to a 21-12 win over A Morgan. Gordon Scott answered tough question at 13-13 with a 1, 3, 1 reply to skip Stan Gardiner, Dave McQueen, and Jim Paterson to an 18-14 win over A Russell. East Lothian did draw some WL blood with George Cowan inflicting 17-6 wounds on Walter McLeod, Eddie Caulfiled, Kenny Ferguson, and Colin Stein. West Fife topped the section and they play Edinburgh & Leith in the final at Sighthill this Monday.
