West Lothian Gents saw their dream of Scottish Cup glory dashed in traumatic anti-climax circumstances with the stars of the Inveralmond Stadium making a second round exit after extra-end drama against defending champions Blantyre at Falkirk.

The first round action in the Ladies Scottish Cup saw both local teams celebrate winning performances and with clear cut margins with West Lothian defeating West of Scotland, 8-2, at Falkirk, and Balbardie dealing a shock 8-2 exit to Premier League East champions, Midlothian.
Balbardie face another tough test this weekend as they tackle Premier League team East Lothian at Midlothian while West Lothian Division 1 West champions, Whiteinch at Glasgow.
Balbardie continue to set the heather on fire in their Scottish Team Championship campaign having marched into the semi-finals stage with a resounding 8-0 points win over Headwell at East Fife.
Spearhead ace Lorraine Craig produced an inspirational 21-14 in the Singles while Morven Shearer and brother Ewan battled to a 21-18 in the Pairs. The Triple of Betty Johnston, Sean McBride, and Andy Forrest were on fire to score a runaway 27-7 while a nail-biting climax saw Kim Ross, Sharon Leitch, Davie Ross, and Walter McDougall clinch an 18-17 victory in the Fours. The semi finals action On Sunday March 22 pitches Balbardie against Stonehaven at Perth and Blantyre against Falkirk at Auchinleck.
West Lothian Seniors were unable to rise above their ‘under-dog’ status in the First round match against East Lothian at Alloa and made an 8-2 points exit to the East B League champions. The rink scores were; David Wilson 19 Willie Wood 18 ( thanks to scoring a mighy 5 on the last end).
