Opportunity Knocks this weekend for West Lothian IBC capturing their first National Seniors title and the Golden Oldie stars of the Inveralmond Stadium have two bites of the cherry in the bid to capture the silverware in the finals being played at Abbeyview, Dunfermline.

The West Lothian banner also features in the Triples with former world stage star George Sneddon skipping George Marshall and Alistair Stenhouse against Coatbridge in Saturdays 10am semi final. The other semi final features Blantyre (Gerry Sullivan) against Perth (R Brown).
Balbardie Ladies produced a strong performance in the second round of the Scottish Cup and in a nail-biting climax snatched a headline win of East Lothian – defeating the stars for The Garden County 6-4 on points at Midlothian IBC. Kim Ross was the hero figure as she skipped her triple to a deadlock breaking victory having risen above the pressures of standing peels playing the last to secure the match-winning shot. Ross was the last to finish and did so with the match-points standing at 4-4 and a big part in that was international star Lorraine Craig and her triple carding a magnificent count of at their third last end. Balbardie’s next cup challenge is against Headwell in their quarterfinal clash at Abbeyview on Saturday March 14.
Last weekend’s second round action saw the end of the road for the West Lothian challenge as they made an 8-2 exit to Whiteinch at Glasgow IBC.
The 138th AGM of the West Lothian Bowling Association (1882) takes place at Linlithgow BC tomorrow night (Fri) at 7pm and it is a historic occasion as it heralds the Unification of three Associations – Gents – Ladies – Young Bowlers. It also triggers the reign of football legend Colin Stein as the Gents President and he will be joined in the hierarchy by Isobel West of Oakbank as the Ladies President.
