Megan Kivlin and Beth Riva were on Junior International duty last weekend when they formed part of the Scotland team taking part in the British Isles series in Arbroath. This weekend it’s the turn of the Gents Junior International team who are facing their British Isles rivals in Stanley, Durham. Joe Mower and Dean Riva form part of the team with Joe Mower skipping a rink and Dean playing third to John Fleming.
East Lothian Gents continued their Scottish Cup campaign last Saturday when they faced Headwell in the first round proper at Falkirk and they progressed to the last sixteen following an 8-2 victory. There were victories for the rinks of Joe Mower (+16), Lewis Betts (+10) and Dean Riva (+3) while Stuart Thomson lost out narrowly by two shots. The Garden County men’s opponents in the last sixteen this Saturday are Berwickshire who they travel to Tweedbank to face without Joe Mower and Dean Riva who are on junior international duty with Scott Kennedy is away with them as a selector and the following team has been selected: M Yuill, D Stevenson, M Johnston & B Mellors (Skip) R Thomson, C Brock, C Glen & J Higgins, C Darling, K Dodds, S Morgan & D Oliver, A Betts, J Gordon, A Jeffrey & L Betts.
The ladies are in Scottish Cup action this Saturday also and the following team has been named for their trip to Headwell to face East Fife in what is now a four triples tournament. This Sunday East Lothian are also in action in the Headwell Team Championship where they face Perth in the first round. At the time of writing a team was still to be confirmed.

The Jock Brodie Seniors Challenge Trophy sponsored by N T Craig, Tom Young Plumbing & Electrical and Colin Glen Roofing got underway two weeks ago when East Lothian “A” defeated Abbeyview and Midlothian defeated Headwell. The next games scheduled in this competition are on the 4th March.
The Garden County youths face their biggest game of the season this Saturday when they entertain Midlothian in the final league fixture. East Lothian and Abbeyview are tied on 22 points at the top of the league with East Lothian having the superior shots difference by fifty one shots. This gives the holders a slight edge going into this final round of fixtures as Abbeyview travel to Bainfield.
