East Lothian Gents began their Scottish Cup campaign with an 8-2 victory over Abbeyview at Bainfield on Saturday. There were large victories for the rinks of Lewis Betts (+20) and Derek Oliver (+17) while Stuart Thomson weighed in with a thirteen shot victory, all of which offset the nineteen shot defeat Joe Mower suffered. Unfortunately the East Lothian Under 35’s cup campaign was brought to an abrupt end on Sunday when fell to a 4-6 defeat to Midlothian. An eight shot win for Joe Mower and a one shot win for Chris Fallen were not enough to cover the fourteen and twenty three shot losses suffered by Stuart Thomson and Ewan Fallen respectively.
The Seniors played their first game in the Seniors Scottish Cup when they faced Stirling at West Lothian last Sunday and recorded an impressive 9-1 victory and will next face West Lothian at Alloa on 12th February.
On Wednesday East Lothian “A” were due to face Abbeyview in the Jock Brodie trophy while at the same time Headwell were playing Midlothian in Section “A”. The team selected was:

Last Sunday our final remaining representatives in the Senior Scottish Knockout play-offs were in action at West Lothian although unfortunately both Janet Fairnie in the Ladies Senior Singles and the Gents Senior Four of Lessel Middler, Gordon Gray, Andy Burt and Tommy Young lost out in their first games. Janet faced Shona Johnstone from Midlothian and suffered a 10-21 reverse while the Four were defeated 9-19 by Abbeyview.
