This Saturday sees the first national competitive action get underway indoors as current East Lothian Indoor Singles Champion Billy Mellors sets out to try and regain the National Singles trophy he won in 2015.
As well as taking his previous win into the event Billy was also runner-up to Paul Foster in 2018 and has won the East Lothian Singles in five of the past six runnings of the event.
Also this weekend the Ladies Junior singles play-downs take place at Dundee on Sunday in which East Lothian have two entries in this new format. Beth Riva defeated Megan Kivlin in the final of the Junior Singles at the Alex Marshall Arena last season and both of these players avoid the Prelim and enter the competition in the first round proper at Dundee at 1pm on Sunday. Beth is in action against Bainfield whilst Megan faces Midlothian 2. Should they win these games they return to Dundee on Sunday 3rd November for the last sixteen games.
The Ladies team are also in action in the first premier league game this Saturday as they entertain Abbeyview as they look for another successful season following their Scottish Cup win last season. At the Alex Marshall Arena there is a sheet up for all gents to register their interest in playing for their Saturday team in which they begin their campaign away to Abbeyview next Saturday 12th October.
The Seniors were due to get their campaign underway on Wednesday when they were due to face local rivals Midlothian at home.
